Mr. Mohammed Shafiq, Chief Executive of the Ramadhan Foundation comments:"The Prime Minister's speech this afternoon provided a mixed response for the Muslim community in the UK, we recognise and accept that the threat from terrorism is real and present and therefore offer whatever support we can to the Police and Intelligence Agencies. In terms of additional measures taken by the Government we express caution that they must be based on strong intelligence and the right of appeal through the UK Justice system.This Government must also recognise and accept that their authoritarian approach to National Security has failed to protect the country from terrorism and has led to difficult times for our diverse communities.We urge all communities to come together in unity to defeat this threat of terrorism"
