Ryan Confırmed:
24hr Local A&E For Chase Farm Hospıtal
Residents across North London received good news this week as it was confirmed that Chase Farm Hospital would retain a 24hr local A&E, thanks to a valiant campaign led by Enfield North MP Joan Ryan,
After a series of meetings between Joan Ryan MP and officials, the Health Secretary and the Prime Minister, health bosses at NHS Enfield have agreed to provide 24hr doctor cover at the local A&E at Chase Farm Hospital after 2013 when it was due for closure. It will be consultant led for at least 12 hours a day and doctors will be available at all other times. Patients will be able to walk-in off the street with children, parents or grand parents and be seen by a doctor at anytime of the day or night - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Joan Ryan MP said:
“I have been working tirelessly to make sure that people in Enfield can know that whatever time of the night or day there will be doctors and nurses available at Chase Farm Hospital to treat them. Now that we have secured a 24hr doctor-led local A&E I will leave no stone unturned to get the best possible services at Chase Farm.
“It’s amazing to think that Chase Farm will now remain open as a fully functioning hospital staffed by doctors and nurses, with some great specialist services, when only five years ago it faced closure. In meeting after meeting and submission after submission I’ve been making the case for Chase Farm. We’ve stopped Chase Farm from closing and now we’ve secured an expansion in planned surgery, a midwife-led birthing unit and a local A&E which will be able to treat people 24hrs a day.
“It’s just goes to show that when we fight we can get improvements to our hospital. Some people will pour cold water on what we’ve achieved. But you don’t get anywhere by carping from the sidelines. We’ve had to roll up our sleeves and fight for our hospital. Just look at how much we’ve together in the past three years – and I know we can achieve even more working together.
