Devious Theft From 84 year old War Veteran
An 84 year old D-Day Landings war veteran has made up his mind not to keep large sums of money at home and not to answer his door to anyone he isn’t expecting after a bogus caller stole thousands of pounds from him.
Police were alerted to the appalling incident that took place in West Green Road N15 between 11am and 11.30am on Friday 7th November.
The victim was in his house when he heard a knock on the door. He went to the door and a man with a London accent stated he was working on road works nearby and that he needed to survey his garden.
The elderly man allowed him in and accompanied him to the rear garden. After a short while the visitor left and the victim noticed that some of his belongings had been moved, one of his bedroom doors had been forced open and he realised that his money had been taken.
It is believed that a second suspect may have been involved.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Dave Holland of Haringey’s Burglary Squad on 020 8345 0887 or to remain anonymous contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111

We are doing all that we can to apprehend whoever is responsible, but we do need the help of the public. If you saw anything that may help our enquiries, please call.”
“Please keep an eye out for your neighbours and if you see anything suspicious take down any suspect description or vehicle details and contact the police on 999.”
“Remember that if you are unsure, don't open the door. If you think the caller is bogus call Police on 999.”
